Welcome back Chef Rodriguez!

As Chef Jose Rodriguez puts it aptly: ''When I am not in the kitchen cooking, I am experimenting and reinventing myself continually. I don't know any other way to feel alive.'' After a long hiatus, Chef Rodriguez returns to Trapeze where he always felt at home. Under a new management, Jose is granted the opportunity to express his creativity in his work freely. With years of experience and much amassed recognition in some of the most well known Michelin Star awarded restaurants in the Bay Area, we are all excited to see what wonders he will bring.

Prior to making a New Year’s Eve reservation, I checked the website to ensure the regular menu would be available with our favorites at the regular pricing. There was no indication of any menu modification. Once at the restaurant we were given a menu which contained many modifications and our favorites weren’t listed. Salmon at $30 was substituted for a $45 Halibut. Other entrees also commanded a higher price. We respectfully mentioned our disappointment and were informed because they anticipated a busy night the menu had been shortened to help out the chef. Although this appeared to be a bait and switch tactic, and debated whether to stay, we then informed the server we would dine. So we waited and waited for the server to take our order but were ignored though other customers who had arrived after us were served. Twenty-five minutes after arriving we walked out. Apparently, if they see you as a complainer they don’t want your business

Marvelous experience here for lunch on the Monday before Christmas. Wonderful service, delicious pastas and salad. Ambience for the holidays was outstanding.

It was a very nice experience, the food was seasoned very well and price is reasonable, our waiters were attentive and all of us enjoyed, thank you.

This was the second time we ate at Trapeze. The first time we sat at the bar and had such a great time. Although the pasta wasn’t all that tasty, the appetizers were wonderful. This trip was a disaster. Though service was good, it was extremely noisy with two holiday parties and the food was awful. The polenta tasted like it had beef gravy. we thought we had a place and now we will never go back.
