   Trummers has gone way downhill. We’ve been there several times, but this might be the end. We had a 6:15 Saturday reservation. We were seated within 5 minutes or so. Our server came over within a few minutes to give us menus and water. We placed our drink order and then it was a good 15 minutes or more before he came back again to take our food order. The dining room was only about 50% occupied, so the slow pace was a bit baffling. I ordered the butternut risotto and the waiter suggested to add chicken so I did. My partner had the cioppino. We also ordered the pumpernickel bread with coffee butter and the baked Brie. It took another 10 minutes or so for our cocktails and bread to arrive. The bread was dry and cold in the middle. The coffee butter looked literally like butter with coffee grounds stirred in it, and was so bitter we couldn’t eat it. The baked Brie was great. It ended up being the highlight of the meal. The risotto was the worst combination of flavors. First, it looked like they had just shredded some roasted chicken and thrown it in a pile on top. It was dry and was seasoned with a profile that did not go with the risotto at all. I pushed it to the side and decided to eat the risotto without it. But the rice was underdone, as were the very large hunks of apple and the mushrooms. None of the flavors worked together at all. To the waiter’s credit, when I told him the flavor combinations just didn’t work, he took the dish off our bill. But my partner didn’t fare much better with her dish. The cioppino was bland. While the cod and shrimp were good, the clams and mussels just weren’t cooked properly. My cocktail, the Sage, was really good and my partner enjoyed her glass of super Tuscan red. So maybe we would come back for Brie and cocktails, but sadly we can no longer recommend this as a good place for dinner. That may explain why the bar was packed but the dining room not so much.

   The experience was fantastic. We had dinner for our anniversary and were celebrated by staff. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. They even brought us a cake for our anniversary. We highly recommend to try

   Bar tender did a great job explaining the thousand wines they have and track down a sweet red for me. The server was attentive without being over bearing. Would recommend to friends and would do again for date night

   Trummer's is a place to go in Clifton, Virginia for a relaxing lunch/ dinner. Justin, our server was attentive and pleasant. He quickly bought water, drinks to our table as soon as we sat down. The menu is good, and there are a variety of choices. I ordered the pork schnitzel which was a little dry. It would have been helpful if there had been a vegetable to go along with the schnitzel. Overall it was a pleasant experience and I will definitely be back.

   No manager was present during the 3 hour lunch service. The one waiter attending the dining room was often gone 15 minutes or more, even when 5 tables were seated. He was pleasant when he was there but seemed drawn to doing something else than waiting tables or remembering basic requests like more water

    The staff at Trummers went above and beyond to give my mom a great birthday brunch. The little extras made it very special and she felt spoiled (as she should)!
