Welcome to Varia, a Romantic, Upscale Italian Restaurant in Norfolk.
Varia, our Italian restaurant and wine studio, features wine by the glass and a pianist six nights a week. Indulge in homemade pasta, freshly tossed pizzas from our brick oven, or signature Italian desserts like the tiramisu. Varia's modern Italian fare is made from only the best local ingredients and the wine studio features over 100 hand-selected wines, including 50 by the glass.
The dining room's intricate finishes and the warm glow of its reclaimed chandelier, formally of the Historic Cavalier's ballroom, offers an intimate ambiance that invites conversation over a full bodied merlot. Guests can book the ultra private dining room only accessible by hidden doors in the bookshelves for special events.

Was supposed to be a 4 course meal. They were behind on getting food out so it turned into a 3 because they brought out two at one time and the portions were so big you couldn’t eat it all and it was cold. But overall it was good.

We really enjoy the regular menu but the New Years Eve menu was terrible. Overcooked food that was hard, terrible options like feta and olives with hard bread. Just too much going on in each selection, the chefs idea was not executed as they hoped. Tried to be edgy with the menu but simple for a crowd is best. We will be back for dinner but never again for a set event menu.

This place was gorgeous inside and the atmosphere was relaxed. I took my fiancee here for dinner on the night I proposed. She loved the experience and the staff were very friendly. We sat next to the piano and had live music (at an appropriate noise level might I add) while we ate and talked. Reminded me a lot of an upscale jazz lounge. We will be going again in the future.

Beautiful atmosphere hands down! Services was great and the vibe was amazing. The food..Brussel sprouts were delicious. Fritto misto was so so as the breading wasn’t crisp and I only had 2-3 shrimp. Very disappointing. Ravioli was so so. After sitting for a few moments it was tough to cut. Ordered gelato for dessert and it was okay. I’ve def had better. I’d definitely recommend for the ambiance, drinks and lite bite. Didn’t order an entree but I will def get pizza next time. The wood burning stove was fired up all night. Special added touch was the piano music. The pianist played some beautiful songs. Would def go again and explore the menu more!

Excellent!!!! A little loud for conversation, but we loved the service, the food, and the decor! We can’t wait to go back!!!! We will definitely make this a Christmas tradition!!!!

First time taking the family. My teens loved eating out fancy. :) Food was great. Amazing wine selection. Dinner with the piano in the background made the night.

The food was so amazing, I am still thinking about it this next morning. The ambiance was absolutely incredible, it felt so luxurious & after posting I had multiple people asking where I was at! Our waiter was amazing, he was very attentive, personable, funny, and exceeded all expectations! I am already planning to go back!
