FOOD - DRINKS - FRIENDS....the Milanese Apericena comes to Denver!

Voghera prides itself in being the first and only restaurant offering APERICENA in the United States. This modern Milanese style of dining is derived from the combination of the words Aperitivo (happy hour) and Cena (dinner).
Very similar to the Spanish tapas, Apericena is a convivial experience which embraces small plates and drinks to encourage sharing and the opportunity to savor different flavors and dishes. An entire meal can be composed of smaller dishes or sample one or two alongside larger plates, like our signature Cotoletta alla Milanese – breaded bone-in 16oz veal cutlet – the fresh meat and fish of the day, as well as enjoy our Menu Milanese – a 4- course prix-fixe that revolves around Milan’s best known dishes.
Our small but seasonal menu is inspired by the culinary tradition of Milan and also represents the Northen Italian cuisine.

As a daughter of Italian immigrants, it has been really hard finding authentic Italian food since moving to Denver. Since finding this place, I have come back so many times. Very authentic experience, the menu is set up just like they are in Italy, and incredible fresh pastas and foods. They were refreshing to be able to speak Italian when I come here with the stuff, and it is not an overly Americanized Italian restaurant like many other ones here.

BEST BRUSCHETTINA IVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE! Amazing food; amazing ambiance; amazing service!! All this made for the best 1st date I’ve ever had! Will be returning - I have a new favorite spot!!

Our waiter, Fabio, was fun to interact with and very knowledgeable about both the food and the wine. Helped us pick out a red that was delicious. My husband and I both had the prix fixe meal, which was delightful, and very filling. We took home about half of the 4th course, a scrumptious veal cutlet. A friend joined us, and we shared the PROSCIUTTO DI PARMA & FICHI with him. Yummy. He had the RISOTTO CON FUNGHI & SALSICCIA for his entree. It was my birthday, so i got a free tiramisu which i shared with my dining companions, since we were all so happily full! We plan to return.

Voghera is charming, the service is excellent and friendly, the food is delicious, and just the right amount and the restaurant is beautiful. I would especially recommend the gnocchi with gorgonzola and pears. Outstanding! Oh, and the special Manhattan. Delicious! Even the menus are exceptional-looking! It would be easy to eat here with a vegetarian friend. Lots of great choices! Parking around Tennyson can be challenging so I'd recommend going early.

Some of the best Risotto in the city. Staff was great. My wife is 7 months pregnant and the host shifted us to a more comfortable table without us asking. Overall had a great time and will be back.

As always we had a wonderful dinner at Voghera! The food was outstanding, the ambiance was great and our server Kenny was so attentive and friendly. Voghera truly is a neighborhood gem and our favorite restaurant!

My family and I were excited to try Voghera but sadly, won’t be returning. Despite a mostly empty restaurant, we were seated for our reservation at a cramped four-top while all of the booths and larger tables stayed open all evening. We could barely fit our water and wine glasses and spent the night playing Tetris with our plates and flagging down our server to clear things so they wouldn't topple off. In hindsight we should have asked to move, but as a seasoned restaurant veteran, I didn't want to. make a fuss and assumed the only reason they hadn't given us a nicer table was because they were expecting a rush of more reservations.. only one other 2 top sat all night. Service was awkward and slow and our waiter never made eye contact with us despite tossing strange Italian pet names at the women all night. Our four-course meal took 2.5 hours to serve, with 30-minute gaps between small portions, leaving us all extremely hungry and ordering extra breadsticks before the final course. The $50 "Halibut" was thin, overcooked, and inedible. We're still not convinced it was even Halibut. Despite having our card on the table when the check was finally dropped we had to flag down staff to pay after our server put the bill down and vanished before we could stop him. We didn't see him again before we left the restaurant. Overall, the experience was massively disappointing and exhausting.
