The name Zacatlán surged from the origins of our chef, Eduardo Rodriguez. He was born in Zacatecas, Mexico (north-central Mexico), which is defined as "the habitants of the land where grass grows". Zacatlán is the nahuatl translation for "land with an abundance of grass", and that is where our idea of Zacatlán Restaurant began.

Zacatlán Restaurant desires to continue to preserve the traditions for our upcoming generations, while bringing forth new flavors. These new flavors incorporate Southwestern and Mexican influences. We are established near the Santa fe Plaza, right off of Guadalupe Street. We want to unveil a new fusion of food for everyone in Santa Fe and those who visit.

Please consider all ages, including infants and children for seating. Our restaurant has cozy yet compact dining rooms, therefore we must charge per seat. Once you book through Opentable the experience for food, tax and gratuity will be charged. We will not accept refunds. We had the most lovely dinner at Zacatlan. Our server was just the most gracious and hospitable man. The food, as always, was amazing (do not miss the cochinita pibil), but the feeling of warmth and hospitality is something missing from so many restaurants now, but not at Zacatlan. Highly recommend for both food and ambience.

Although he had some difficulty stubmling my reservation for a few minutes upon my arrival, my server, Jose, was pretty attentive from the moment I sat at my table til I left. Hearing everything he had to share about their top selling apps and entrees, I decided to order their bone marrow app and red snapper meal. Their bone marrow app was on point! A rather generous portion with four marrows and I liked their flavorings. Their red snapper entree, not so much. It appears that they used a frozen snapper and as someone who buys fresh fishes to cook frequently, I could tell that the fish was frozen. Such a shame as I had higher expectations with zacatlan being a James beard semifinalist. Add to the insult, I feel that their cocktails were not given the proper love they deserve - they were diluted for the price you pay (I ordered their house margarita & red sangria). Maybe it was just a bad day that this resto had for my reservation, but I wanted to share this experience for other diners to read and digest.

Erika was special. Our meal was over the top combined you could not ask for a better experience. Thank you! I see why Zacatlan is considered the best restaurant in Sante Fe (judged by locals!)

We had a wonderful meal at Zacatlan a couple of weeks ago, based on recommendations from two different friends. We loved it! The food, drinks, and service were all excellent. Will definitely go back when we're back in Santa Fe next year.

I had a 6 o’clock reservation. I arrived on time. I needed to be at the Lensic, which is a five minute walk at 7:30. There was only one other table when I got there. They were already eating. I ordered a drink and an appetizer which came, timely. The appetizer was the special of the night squash blossoms stuffed with goat cheese served over a curry sauce with crawfish. Really delicious. But my entrée just never came. Finally it’s 10 after seven. I asked the waitress what was going on. She didn’t admit it, but I know she just forgot to put it in. She was sort of flaky, and I think maybe possibly had taken an edible, because I heard her, tell people about a cocktail with tequila when they asked her what she had that wasn’t alcoholic. When my dish finally came, I got the whole snapper off the menu, the fish was dry and bland. The risotto was good, but after waiting over an hour, I would’ve thought at least they would’ve served me a good entrée. Really wanted to like this place and the appetizer was delicious. And the interior is adorable. But the fact that I had to remind her that my entrée never arrived when people came in after me eight and left was really untenable. And the fact that no one there who was supervising even came over to talk to me about it was also not acceptable.
