Italian restaurant chain Zizzi opened the doors of its very first branch in London's Chiswick in 1999. Now there are over 100 branches, all decorated in an appealing contemporary style. Wood-fired ovens, open kitchens and modern interior design with locally influenced art features make for a vibrant atmosphere. As for the food, they serve up a variety of traditional Italian dishes including all the usual suspects: salads, antipasti, pasta, pizza, calzone, risotto as well as fish and meat mains and desserts. What Zizzi really pride themselves on is sourcing good quality ingredients; salads are dressed with white balsamic vinegar from Modena, for example, and offer Goddess Olives, a variety known for their firm flesh and nutty flavour. The modestly priced wine list is dominated by Italian wines, starting at £13.45 for a Montepulciano d'Abruzzo.

I had a skinny margarita pizza which was a small base with grilled cheese and a tiny bit of what tasted like ketchup with a bit of salad. Would have sent it back but we were going to the theatre and did not have much time. We had to ask twice for food that we ordered and took ages to come. Bearing in mind it was the holidays and they were rushed off their feet the food was poor. Will not be returning.

I run a small business, and I was to host our Christmas party at zizzis. I made the booking through the open table app. Upon arrival we were told that zizzis didn't have our reservation. I showed them the confirmation but was informed there was nothing they could do. Firstly, I did not think that the manager handled the situation well, he could have been far more apologetic than he was, and also much more accommodating. In the last 5 years we've held our Christmas party at zizzis twice before and have seen it much busier than it was last night. Secondly, we were told that they are aware of the issue. If that is the case, then between open table and zizzis this should be sorted asap. Luckily, pizza express was able to accommodate us and upon leaving we were told we the first of 3 parties that were in the same situation that had turned up to pizza express. Very disappointed all around.
