Located in downtown Los Angeles, Redbird is carved into one of the city’s most historic edifices, inside the rectory building of Vibiana – a premier wedding, events and performing arts venue. Chef | Owner Neal Fraser and Owner | Operator Amy Knoll have crafted a beautifully dynamic restaurant space within which to enjoy Chef Fraser's critically acclaimed Modern American menu. Wine Director Christopher Dugan’s wine list is well-rounded with great finds from both established and emerging regions throughout the world. Bar Director Tobin Shea's cocktail offerings feature well-balanced, bespoke renditions of the classics, as well as inventive and inspired originals. Indoor and outdoor seating options are available for brunch, happy hour + dinner.

The Main Dining Room offers open air dining under our retractable roof with views of the Vibiana bell tower and the upper balconies of the rectory building. The Lounge offers dining tables along the banquette and windows overlooking 2nd St.

Redbird is a beautiful location and beautiful restaurant amazing ambience. The food is delicious and abundant and I’m giving five stars to the mimosas.

Truthfully, very disappointing. Been here many times, so have higher expectations. The $215 for a cutdown menu was a joke. Wanted to order their Cheese bread, not available. Seemed short staffed. Felt like a giant XMas Cash grab. I don’t mind paying premium prices as long as the experience is worth it. This was Not! The disappointment was that I know they can & have done better.

Frankly, we expected more from a pre-fixe Christmas Eve dinner. Dinner was more than $200pp, plus an optional wine pairing for another $100 plus. The food was good, but not exceptional, table service okay, and nothing in the ambience to make it festive. The staff was friendly and attentive, but we were disappointed in the overall experience. When charging at this level, for a special occasion, guest expectations are elevated and it felt like Redbird responded with business as usual.

I’ve had many fabulous meals at Redbird. This was not one of them. I brought my son and his girlfriend here for a special meal right before Christmas and it was a disappointment all around. Our server was stressed and frazzled, yet the restaurant was mostly empty. She started telling us about the menu by announcing that they were out of multiple entrees, including the branzino because they can’t get fresh fish on Sundays; something I’ve never encountered in restaurants on the West Coast. The crudo was drowning in sauce, both the pork chops and sea bass were overcooked and dry. The scallops — 4 with 4 quarter-inch slices of potato around a mound of celery root puree — was a plate of white, too rich, with nothing to set it off and little flavor. The drinks were the best part of the meal. I hope this was an exception and not a trend for what has been a top LA restaurant in an iconic space.

The food was excellent, but the service was awful. We didn't get our drink order until right before our main course hit the table, and I had to ask where our drink order was. The staff said the bar had "an issue with our first order." Ok, that happens, but they didn't do anything to make it right on our end. At the end of the meal, they said they would take off the automatic 20% service fee for a group of our size. Great, so now I get to look like the jerk if I don't tip. I believe they should have taken our drinks off the bill, being it took so long. Oh, and by the way, I still tip 20% because it's the holidays.
