                                                                                Great serve and wonderful food. A bit noisy as usual. Was disappointed the scallops have been removed from the menu. That was my Husband’s favorite dish.

                                                                                Saltus River Grill has always been our favorite restaurant in Beaufort since it opened. It is very consistent, lovely place with beautiful outside patio on the Beaufort River with a wood firing going. Love the long L-shaped bar with very comfy stools with back. Excellent menu selection. Cannot beat the fried shrimp offered in 1/4, 1/2, or full pound - the very best way to eat Carolina shrimp. Wedge salad is always a winner and comes in half portion or full size. Love the sushi offerings. Last evening was incredibly noisey, much higher noise level than usual. Probably due to Beaufort Film Festival happening. But, we’ll always go back and enjoy dinner for two at a table or at the bar.

                                                                                We were seated promptly at a very small table for two. I could not push back my chair because there was a partial wall behind me….it was too confining. The restaurant is quite dim and the music playing was not unpleasant but odd. Considering this is a somewhat upscale restaurant I wasn’t expecting to be listening to Rick James and other disco favorites at a considerable volume. Our server was very nice and took care of us very well during our visit. The food was quite good and presented well. I had the blackened dorado and my husband had the shrimp and grits. We really enjoyed the arancini appetizer but there was only 3 so I let the husband have seconds. For dessert I had the crème brûlée and it was tasty but no actual evidence of a vanilla bean could be found in it. The carmelized sugar on top was done to perfection. Husband had the chocolate mousse with shortbread cookies for dipping.We loved the mousse and the cookies were divine. This review would have been 5 stars except for the seating, the music and the lighting. I think some easy tweaks are in order!

                                                                                Seat all diners at right angles to each other at tables for four. We sat two & two across from each other and had to literally scream at each other. Awful. Never coming again with friends. Will just come as a couple & sit at the bar. Never able to get a booth no matter how far in advance we call. Too bad. Food is always good.

                                                                                We love Saltus! A perfect date night spot. From the amazing fresh sushi and seafood to their cocktails everything is wonderful! We got there early to have a drink at the bar before our reservation and the bartenders are great! Can’t wait to go back!
