   We decided we need to come here more often. We started with a cocktail in the Speak Easy - lovely, intimate decor, great cocktails and live music! Then up to the Stonehouse for our sunset dinner. We started with the oysters and could not decide on our next course or even our dinner entrees because so many things looked so good. Here's what helped - we saw the table next to us get the Cherries Jubilee for dessert -- looked and smelled fantastic. Our waiter told us about and shared some of the dessert items which made us certain we wanted room for dessert. So we both ordered the aged manchango crusted halibut -- outstanding. Cooked perfectly and the artichoke and sauce were yummy. That left us working to decide which desert we wanted. We ended up on the crepes suzette -- quite a lovely show as well and just the perfect, light sweet treat for the end of the meal. I was hoping the pot-de-creme was back on the menu and will go just for that if it's ever back! Worthy of taking your time to enjoy the food, setting and wonderful service.

   Everything about the Stonehouse was absolutely outstanding and first class. The ambience was absolutely fabulous and strolling thru the gardens with a pre dinner cocktail was beautiful. The Speakeasy, although noisy, had a wonderful atmosphere and comfort level. Being greeted at the front drive was unexpected but we were given the ground rule(s)—HAVE FUN!! Our server, Antonio, was top notch and very attentive to our needs. One of us had the Chicken Breast that was especially prepared by the chef to ensure that is was perfectly moist. It was incredible!! My only “disappointment” was that my Steak Diane was not prepared with the typical thin tenderloin and a Dijon mustard sauce. Nevertheless, it was outstandingly prepared table side and the flavor was wonderful. Dessert and the after dinner Carajillos were equally fabulous. I give Stonehouse my highest rating and will always return when in the area. THE VERY BEST!!

   The San Ysidro Ranch is an absolutely stunning property. However, my experience was soured by the mishandling of my reservation and dishonesty with the reservation system. Upon booking a reservation for Sunday lunch, I had the option to book either a standard lunch reservation or book the 3 course prix fixe brunch, which costs $125/pp. I selected the standard lunch reservation upon booking, and had to put my card info to secure the booking. I was notified that I would be charged $75/pp should I no-show or cancel the reservation within 24 hours. This was not an issue for me whatsover. The real issue occured on the morning of my reservation. I was notified by the staff at Stonehouse that they were ONLY offering the prix fixe brunch option for my reservation. This is not what I had signed up for. I was notified of this less than 3 hours before my reservation. If I had cancelled, I would have been charged $150 as my reservation was for two. I ended up going to the reservation as I had made it to celebrate my sisters birthday. Although the food was delicious, I ended up paying over $300 for this experience. It is extremely misleading for Stonehouse to offer another dining option, just to be told that that they could not fulfill it and that I would have to opt for the other option. Please be cautious before dining here. I ended up spending far more than I wanted to and was placed in a very unfortunate predicament.
