As a journalist who's dined all over the world, this is one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at. It reminded me both in setting and in food/drink quality of the French Laundry in Yountville, California, in the heart of Napa wine country. The black cod I ordered was superb. My friend ate fettuccini with homemade pasta that was superb and an array of delicious vegetables, some of them grown in the restaurant's gardens spread around the gorgeous ranch. If you can arrive or finish eating an hour before sunset, make sure to take a walking tour of the grounds, which afford spectacular views of mountains and sea. The only small complaint I have regarding our service === it took quite a long time for me to get the Manhattan cocktail I ordered, at least 20 minutes and after our food arrived. I had looked forward to drinking it before our meal and then ordering a glass of wine to drink with the food, but because of the delay I skipped the wine. Overall, though, this was a blip in an otherwise wonderful experience.

A truly outstanding restaurant from the ambience to the service to the great food taste and quality. We had an amazing experience tonight for both my wife’s birthday and Mother’s Day. Highly recommended and worth every moment.

I think they were short staffed today. Our table was not ready even though we had a reservation. The two tables were put together but were at different heights leading to a drink spill. The thick accent of our waiter made ordering more difficult. Ice was spilled on our table by another and then dropped into my wife’s lap during cleanup. The Food is excellent but the Staff needs additional training to justify the $55 per person breakfasts.
