We love the Sugar Bar, AKA Ashford & Simpson's Restaurant on 72nd Street! The food is always delicious and the servers exceptionally attentive and pleasant. The only drawback is the restaurant's placing an automatic tip on the bill; I usually add to it--the size of a tip that usually doubles the tax. Because of the automatic tipping this past time I left the waiter a tip of close to $20 for our Bru=nch for two. He was worth it--besides, it being a New Year, I figured the hefty tip was also a New Year's gratuity! As fior food, you can't get better than what they serve up at the Sugar Bar....DELICIOUS! I had the hominy grits and Blackened catfish; my brother had fried catfish and waffles. Our plates were cleaned, of course...so good was the food! Only one tiny gripe-the size of the DELICIOUS CORNBREAD...Each diner should have a slice of cornbread, not one slice being carved in two for two diners...The cornbreade, too, is THAT good and DELICIOUS! The Sugar Bar is one of our favorites; a real winner!!! Mickey Michaels

Such a great spot. This is good for date night or for a nice night out. This place makes you feel comfortable. A very energetic place you must check out.

We were in New York the Sunday before New Year’s, and had the great fortune of going to Sugar Bar. I seen Valerie Simpson on TV a few days before and it reminded me of this restaurant. So glad I happened upon that interview. A New York neighborhood restaurant bar was full of chatting people having a good time. The food was good. The drinks were great and the desserts scrumptious. More importantly, it was beautiful to pay how much to Ashford & Simpson. It reminded me of growing up with their music in the background. We went on a Sunday; next time I’ll be sure to go on a day that they have music!

I am so happy that I selected Sugar Bar to take my friends to eat with me. First, the place is cozy and intimate and very clean. Second, the staff that checked my cost, served our food and created our mixed alcoholic drinks were cordial, joyful, attentive and professional. Third, the prices were moderately priced for such grand tasty food in an upscale neighborhood. We will return here to watching and listen to their live music. Thank you Sugar Bay for a marvelous evening. I appreciate the staff including the chef (s). Happy New Year.

We really enjoyed our meals. Everything was delicious and well prepared. The service was great also. The prices were especially great for NYC. Would definitely return on another trip to NYC.
