The Albion is a Georgian gem left over from a time when Islington was fields and farmland, and where the regulars would take afternoon walks out of the city to visit us. We have a lovely garden which resembles places found in the South of France, with the wisteria blooming and the willow creating a nice and relaxed atmosphere. In the back of the garden there is an old barn which used to be a bar, and the rumour is that the Sex Pistols played their first concert in the barn. Inside, the log fires create a lovely atmosphere during the cold months, where you can wrap up and enjoy a drink or food both in our dining room and bar areas. We are frequented by regulars from our local area as well as their dogs. We happily provide both water and biscuits for visiting dogs and love to have them around.

We booked a table inside, and were seated outside in the garden in january (without space heaters). We had small children with us and had to wait half an hour to be seated inside.

The food I felt was expensive. Smoked salmon starters were tiny and soup was not warm. Our friends thought that too much salt was used in the cooking of the steam and risotto dish too. On the plus side excellent bread and a beautiful dining room at the back of the pub which was quiet.

Great food. Wish we booked our seats indoors. Very friendly staff and the bartender made me a stupendously good Margarita which I’ll be coming back for.

Food was lovely but service was poor with very long waits for food/drink orders/drinks. Despite calling ahead about bringing a cake we were not informed about a “cakage” charge of £7 a person. Despite not opting for this we were still charged for it but thankfully they did take this off the bill with no fight.

It was my first time in The Albion, and I've had the tipical Sanday roast with some friends, very pleasant exoerience!
