"The Canny Man's in Morningside is an Edinburgh institution established in 1871 and passed down through 5 generations of the Kerr family. As famous chef Rick Stein said 'The Canny Man's is the best pub in the world.'
The establishment is well known far and wide for it’s quirky nature and ‘never’ changing décor. The interior sees every nook and cranny filled with everything from moose heads to muskets, sheet music to stuffed animals. A genuinely one of a kind bar and restaurant. The restaurant specialises in the best Scottish produce with a strong focus on local suppliers. Alongside this they have a well stocked gantry of over a 200 malt whiskies and a large wine list. The Canny Man's is very much a unique experience in Edinburgh and not to be missed."

                    The food here is lovely although pricey. It is a quirky environment, and nice to see. However we will not be back. I have rarely experienced such poor and downright rude service. We had to chase up drinks orders, had to request second drink, had to again get attention to ask for coffee. All food, drinks and menus were plonked on the table, never a smile or a please or thank you from any staff member. Our experience was completely spoiled by this. Service charge was then taken automatically. I don’t know how this place survives.

                    Absolutely lovely Christmas dinner! The food was delicious and the staff very friendly. Would highly recommend.

                    Lovely Xmas Day meal and the fish stew was divine. Dining for one and tucked in a nook so mingled at bar between courses. Everything I hoped it would be. Cheese platter was scrummy but some relish would have topped it off!

                    Food and ambience was excellent with the only opportunity for improvement was the service. Perhaps it was a busy day during the festive period however that shouldn’t stop great service

                    My wife and I had a glorious 5 star dining experience at the Canny Mans. We chose the Christmas lunch menu which was fabulous in every way, its presentation, quantity, quality of food, superb value and the overall service was perfection. Fizz to begin was very very good, the beetroot tart starter is something we said we could eat every day, it was stunning. Main course was mouth watering and hot which seems obvious but we have eaten in restaurants where the food is luke warm and then isnt enjoyable, but this was so good!. The cheese board rounded off the meal just right. Bravo Canny Mans and 5 stars all round !!!
